ReDyeing your mulch can reduce the costs, lead time, and need for unnecessary wood mulch material while still delivering the refreshed, professional look you want. By ReDyeing your existing mulch, ReDye Mulch eliminates or significantly reduces the amount of new wood mulch material you need to purchase and install on your property, thus reducing the costs and lead time to complete your project and get your mulch beds looking refreshed and great again.
The only disadvantage is if there is an insufficient base of mulch (typically at least one inch of existing mulch). ReDye is not a substitute for installing mulch where none exists. It is an alternative to installing new/additional mulch to achieve a refreshed, professional appearance.
Yes. ReDye uses environmentally safe, water soluble dye. Our dyes are similar to the dyes many mulch manufacturers use in the coloring/dying process.
Yes. The essential purpose of all dye is to stain. To avoid staining undesired areas we both pre-treat hard surfaces (e.g. curbs, foundations, light/sign pole bases) with a green solution which prevents bonding and staining, and we use ground coverings to protect curbs, sidewalks, and plant material as appropriate.
No. With sufficient drying time, ReDye will not have any bleeding or run-off. Warmer temperatures, lower humidity, and breezy conditions can significantly reduce drying times.
ReDye color typically lasts up to 12-months (e.g. March - Feb) or longer. Like all mulch coloring, the color and rate of fading is subject to local weather conditions, sun, rainfall, and temperature ranges.
If the depth of your base mulch material is still sufficient (typically more than one inch), mulch may be ReDyed as often or as many times as you would like to keep the same rich, long-lasting color.
No, ReDyeing mulch does not reduce the life of the mulch. In fact, it tends to extend the life of your mulch since it is not prematurely discarded due to color fading while it still has functional benefits remaining.
The most common colors are brown, dark brown, black and red. Although multiple colors and shades of dye are available. Contact your ReDye Mulch representative to discuss color options.
We consult with each client to understand the specific needs of your project/scope. After bed maintenance prep is completed, we pre-treat and/or cover any appropriate areas you don’t want colored. We then apply our professional ReDye process to all existing mulch areas. Once finished, your mulch will look renewed and refreshed with the professional look of new mulch restored to your property.
Although ReDye is typically applied in beds in which existing mulch has settled (and faded), the air pressure of the application process turns any looser mulch and exposes the underside, allowing for mulch to be dyed evenly. We take care to thoroughly cover and saturate the mulch, ensuring a consistent coating. The ReDye application process will provide a consistent, professional look. (Note, in new mulch installations, loose or blowing mulch is a larger concern, and turned mulch is likewise between top side and underside due to variations in sun and moisture exposure).
Landscape bed preparation and maintenance is key to great looking beds. We recommend removing leaves, twigs, dead plants and any weeds. Additionally, we recommend edging your landscape beds and applying an herbicide pre-emergent (liquid or granular) prior to your ReDye application to set the stage for an ongoing, professional look.
Each project varies in the length of time. Variables such as the number and size of beds, accessibility, plant material and ground cover, contribute to the length of time of each project. Your ReDye Mulch representative will discuss specific time requirements for your project with you.
There are no additional steps after your ReDye application. Continue with your regularly scheduled landscaping and bed maintenance.
ReDye should not be applied during periods of snow, rain, heavy wind or temperatures below freezing. As long as these conditions are met you can utilize ReDye any time of year.
We do our best to schedule applications during ideal weather conditions (at least moderately dry, low wind, and above freezing). In the event expected weather is not conducive to ReDyeing, we will reschedule your ReDye application. If unforeseen inclement weather occurs within 12 hours after your ReDye application and mulch is discolored as a direct result of the inclement weather, we will work with you to reapply ReDye as appropriate. (Note: As with new mulch installations, in the event mulch in beds is removed or displaced due to “acts of God” (e.g. severe winds, storms, excessive rain or flooding) it is not the responsibility of ReDye Mulch to address or compensate).
We always recommend that scheduled watering/irrigation times be turned-off or suspended for a standard period of 24 hours to allow for optimal drying.
No. ReDye will not affect the growth or blooming of perennials, plants or shrubs.
Customer/employee traffic does need to be accounted for, however the ReDye Mulch process will have less impact to customer and employee traffic than traditional mulch installations. Our process is quicker to apply and does not use bucket loaders, Bobcats or wheel barrows which are needed for new mulch installations.
The cost of ReDye is determined by total square footage (or cubic yards), size and number of beds, accessibility, dye material and property locations.
